We teach Bharata Natyam, Indian classical dance, to all age groups. We teach this dance formal dance in a fun way so that our students learn new steps and new choreography set to traditional and non-traditional music. Purvi Jejurkar is the artistic director of the studio in Belmont, CA. She believes that anyone can learn dance and at any age. She encourages students to participate in events at school, work etc. to showcase this graceful dance. Our studio is invited each year to perform at our local community during Indian or non-Indian festivals. Done with complete concentration this dance form has benefits of yoga. It has different postures and poses which help improve balance. The hand and neck Mudras (symbols and positions) formulate the dance form. The Mudras improve flexibility. The adavus (steps) strengthens the core.

This qualifies her not only as a trainer but also as a learned judge of others’ performances. Serving as an expert Bharatanatyam trainer, she worked for two years at Vasundhara Performing Arts Center, Mysore, Karnataka. She also tutored the hearing impaired disciples at Rotary West and Parent’s Association of Deaf Children Trust. Having presented exemplary performances in several highly acclaimed dance festivals across India, Manasa has received rave reviews from the leading newspapers, both national and regional, and art aficionados. Her performances have been extensively covered by top Indian English publications such as, The Hindu, The New Indian Express and Deccan Herald. I am a Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and choreographer from India based in San Francisco for the past 4 years. I have been teaching kids this art form for over 9 years in India. My technical training of this art form was strengthened after having done my bachelor's degree from Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya. I believe dance cannot be learnt just by itself, so it is important for the kids to understand these various - Body strengthening - Prayers - Story-telling from Mythology and how it can be exhibited in dance - Talam It is a constant learning for me as a teacher as well.
