Vidushi Sonal Jhaveri feels honored to be a disciple of Padmashree Vasundara Doraswamy, who is danseuse par excellence and a venerated guru of Bharatanatyam from the heavenly city of Mysore, India; under whom she's been trainning since 14 years. Sonal has completed her Bharatanatyam post-Vidhwat degree from Karnataka, India, and has also had basic vocal trainning in Hindustani and Carnatic music. Through years of experience in dancing and teaching, Sonal has been able to guide and motivate her students in an effective and comprehensive manner in various forms of dances such as Classical, Folk and Bollywood. Khushi Dance Academy's mission is to teach students discipline, concentration, focus, positive attitude, unity and above all, awareness to Indian culture through classical dance forms. The techniques learned through Bharatanatyam are essential in becoming a versatile, graceful, and strong dancer. A key goal for Khushi Dance Academy is to instill in its dancers an enthusiasm and desire to have a positive influence within their community. We train students for full margam of Bharatanatyam and also make them capable of choreographing on their own. Khushi Dance Academy is committed to the art of dance. Whether a student is dancing for fun or planning to enter the arts on a professional level, we are here to guide along the way. Shila Mehta is a Kathak dance artist, choreographer, Performer with over 35 years of experience in her field.She is the founder and Artistic Director of Nupur Zankar Academy of Performing Arts & Research Centre based in Mumbai with other centres at New Jersey -USA, Ghent –Belgium and Swindon – UK. Shila was groomed as Kathak artist under eminent Gurus and Masters including Pt. Prahalad Das, Pt. Vijai Shankar, Pt. Birju Maharaj. She was mentored in Laya asthetics by Pt. SureshTalwalkar. She participated actively in the choreographies of Pt.Chitresh Das and Smt.Kumudini Lakhia. Currently She is working with Dr Kanak Rele on understanding about Abhinaya aesthetics.At a very young age she made her mark in field of art and culture with scintillating performances and novel choreographies bringing a wave of energy, particularly in Gujarati society.

About Anandabhairavi: Started in 1991, Anandabhairavi has conducted concerts, workshops, and seminars in New Jersey. Its primary thrust has been in. In the year 2000, Anandabhairavi conducted a 6-week workshop on Manodharma or improvisation in Carnatic Music. The Local Artists Concert Series (with Ragam,-Tanam-Pallavi) was started in December 2000. Under this banner, concerts of Bhavani Prakash (Vocal and Veena), Radha Kalyan, Rajeswari Satish, Harish Neelakandan, Swaminathan (Sam) Natarajan, and Madurai R. Sundar have been organized. A half-hour workshop on music by Dr. Bhavani Prakash and Prakash Rao follows each of these concerts. It is hoped that the concert and workshop series will continue as a regular feature.We have a unique staff - our family!
