Anna Jacob Education was the highest priority in my household. My parents always stressed the importance of schooling to be successful later in life. Sciences especially chemistry was a complicated subject for me when it was first introduced to me during secondary school. It was a teacher with the blessed skill of making complicated concepts simple who kindled the scientific and teaching interest in me. The impact was so profound that I decided to pursue a chemistry education after my Master’s in chemistry. During those years I used to picture myself teaching in a school located far away from where I live in an urban setting surrounded by students of diverse cultures. The dream came true twice once when I took up a teaching position in Dubai and next in October 2001, marking a new journey in my life as a high school science teacher at Elizabeth, United States. Looking back at all these years as a chemistry teacher at Elizabeth NJ, I am very proud to have been able to make a remarkable dent in my student’s lives and the new science teachers I mentored. In recognition of the devotion for education and making a positive difference in the lives of students on May 9, 2019, Roberts Charitable Foundation presented the Outstanding Teaching Award by the Monmouth University School of Education. I was nominated by a Monmouth University senior Chemistry student for remarkable teaching proficiency and dedication to education. She was my AP Chemistry student during the 2014-15 school year. As a science teacher, I strive to build the capacities of the spirit of inquiry, creativity, entrepreneurial and moral leadership among students and become their role models. I encourage students to be creative but to think differently from what others see. New ideas evolve when students start thinking differently, leading to breakthrough inventions. Shila Mehta is a Kathak dance artist, choreographer, Performer with over 35 years of experience in her field.She is the founder and Artistic Director of Nupur Zankar Academy of Performing Arts & Research Centre based in Mumbai with other centres at New Jersey -USA, Ghent –Belgium and Swindon – UK. Shila was groomed as Kathak artist under eminent Gurus and Masters including Pt. Prahalad Das, Pt. Vijai Shankar, Pt. Birju Maharaj. She was mentored in Laya asthetics by Pt. SureshTalwalkar. She participated actively in the choreographies of Pt.Chitresh Das and Smt.Kumudini Lakhia. Currently She is working with Dr Kanak Rele on understanding about Abhinaya aesthetics.At a very young age she made her mark in field of art and culture with scintillating performances and novel choreographies bringing a wave of energy, particularly in Gujarati society.

About Anandabhairavi: Started in 1991, Anandabhairavi has conducted concerts, workshops, and seminars in New Jersey. Its primary thrust has been in. In the year 2000, Anandabhairavi conducted a 6-week workshop on Manodharma or improvisation in Carnatic Music. The Local Artists Concert Series (with Ragam,-Tanam-Pallavi) was started in December 2000. Under this banner, concerts of Bhavani Prakash (Vocal and Veena), Radha Kalyan, Rajeswari Satish, Harish Neelakandan, Swaminathan (Sam) Natarajan, and Madurai R. Sundar have been organized. A half-hour workshop on music by Dr. Bhavani Prakash and Prakash Rao follows each of these concerts. Since childhood, Richa had been fond of learning and enjoying performing arts, especially music and dance. She got basic training in classical vocal and Bharatnatyam, but couldnot pursue it while she studied to become a foreign language expert. But even while working as a Japanese teacher and translator, she attended as many performances and concerts as her hectic schedule permitted. Rajashree’s tryst with performing arts also began in childhood, when she performed in some plays and tele-films. She learned Bharatnatyam in an early age and performed her Arangetram when she was 12. She gave up training in dance and music to become a software professional. Working in an early stage start-up, she experienced the pains and joys of growing a company from close. Long time friends and later family members, Richa Rajadhyax and Rajashree Rajadhyax founded Meetkalakar to return to their love of their childhood – performing arts. In Meetkalakar, the clarity of their roles vanishes when they make an occasional cup of tea together. At other times, Rajashree is the creator of the web-portal and all other applications.
