Moumita Banerjee is very passionate about Kathak Dance and started learning kathak dance (in Jaipur Gharana) at the age of five under Smt. Susmita Chakraborty in Calcutta. She earned her Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.) degree from Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi, India), one of the largest and prestigious university in Asia. She was awarded with Gold Medal for securing 1st position in the University. She also completed Prabhakar degree (Similar to bachelor’s degree in Kathak dance) and Senior Diploma in Kathak with distinction from Prayag Sangeet Samiti (Allahabad, India) She received her Master of Performing Arts (MPA) degree in Kathakk dance in Lucknow Gharana from Bhatkhande Music Institute (Deemed University, Lucknow). She har learned under legendary Gurus like Prof. Kumkum Dhar, Prof. Bina Singh, and Prof. Ranjana Srivastava. She also completed workshop training with late Pandit Birju Maharaj, leading exponent of Lucknow gharana of Kathak and Ashimbandhu Bhattacharjee. She has been a performer for many years, performing and Choreographing in India and in USA (Florida, Texas, and Massachusetts) at various organizations and festivals. Her students also performed in many programs in Greater Boston community such as Essence of India, Acton; IAGB; IAB; Sai rainbow; Boston Children Museum and many other places. With prior teaching experience in India and in USA, Moumita is glad to share her dance experience with children and adults who love Kathak as much as she does. Kathak is one of the major forms of classical dance of India with its origins in Northern India. The name Kathak is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘katha' which means ‘story' and the one who tells the stories is called ‘Kathak'. Kathak is found in three Gharanas-Jaipur, Banaras, and Lucknow Gharana from the cities where the Kathak dance tradition evolved. These classes at TSK will focus on the Banaras and Lucknow Gharanas.

Learn Quest offers vocal and instrumental instruction in Indian Classical Music in Massachusetts, locations, both in Hindustani and Carnatic styles, as well as Western music. Classes are taught by highly accomplished faculty from all walks of life and schools of music, from the New England Conservatory and Berklee College of Music to Gwalior Gharana. Something which is unique and has no counterpart is not easily translatable and hence will remain viable. Hindi is the second most spoken language in the world and the rich grammar, vocabulary and wide aesthetic appeal that it has in people motivates HindiUSA volunteers to help preserve it. To do this, we have well defined syllabus and practical ways to implement it. The syllabus and teaching methodologies are reviewed periodically to provide optimum benefits to the students. Hindi can also bring India and USA much closer. Americans can easily learn about Indian cultural heritage through Hindi in their schools and by interacting with their Indian friends. In a short span of 15 years, HindiUSA grew from 2 students to over 4,000 and from 1 teacher to now over 350. HindiUSA never strives to win prizes or recognition. Its biggest prize is more than 500 graduates, many of whom are acting as assistant teachers and the largest Hindi family in USA.

Mona Mitra is a classically trained dancer, with a "Visharad" in Kathak. She has been trained under Pandit Chunilal Goswami and Dr. Amita Dutt, who is a senior disciple of Pandit Birju Maharaj and the Dean of Fine Arts at Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata. Mona has been teaching dance for the last 15 years. In the Boston area, she has been teaching Kathak since 2010. She and her students from Mona's Dance Academy have been performing for various cultural and non-profit organizations and in local TV channels. Prior to Boston, she had taught in Los Angeles, Portland (Oregon), and India. Trained in Kathak (Jaipur and Lucknow Gharana) since the age of 4 and con­duct­ing classes for kids and adults for the last 10 years. Recipient of Visharad in Kathak.
