Kala School of Indian Classical Dance was founded in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, by Sujata Nair-Mulloth. The main objective of the school is to train students in the art and discipline of Bharata Natyam and to popularize Indian Culture. Many of the students who train here will go on to be professional dancers and teachers. It is important that both, those who pursue careers in dance and those who leave dance, possess sound education, in the fundamentals of the art form,that will serve them in the future. It is with this in mind that Kala School offers a comprehensive three tiered curriculum based on the rigorous training program followed in India. It aims to achieve a disciplined technique focused on flexibility, co-ordination, grace, poise, and strength. The course ensures that all students have a strong basis of the dance style and of Indian Culture. At the completion of the course, the students are encouraged to perform their “Arangetram” -debut performance. Classes run from August through June. Each year all students participate in an annual recital. The recitals present items from the traditional repertoire, and include dances choreographed by Sujata Nair-Mulloth. This gives students exposure to aspects of choreography and production and also teaches them to use the traditional movement vocabulary in new and innovative ways.

With experience of teaching over the past 10 years, Acharya Shama established Samarpan Kathak Dance Academy in Pennsylvania in 2018 to carry forward the legacy of Lucknow gharana and promote Indian art culture. The purpose is to fulfill everyone's dream and give colour and happiness to their lives. The classroom is a smart class equipped with audiovisual facilities, and is conducted both for personal and virtual.About Acharya Shama: As a dancer of the young generation of Jaipur and Lucknow Gharana, Acharya Shama has a firm academic foundation in music and dance. From her tender age of 3, she started learning Kathak in Jaipur Gharana style from her late Guru. She completed the academic qualification in Kathak while still in her school years. Later in her life, she became a follower and student of Lucknow Gharana through her present Guru, who is a well known and old disciple of Jai Kishan Maharaj, son of Padma Vibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj ji.

Nupoor Kathak Dance school is established by the talented Radhika Joshi. Radhika is a highly trained Kathak Dancer and has passed Nritya Visharad with First Class. She has been trained in Kathak by Guru Archana Joglekar and Guru Aabha Wamburkar. She has been teaching Kathak for more than fifteen years. She is an official examiner for 'Samved Conservatory of Indian Classical Music and Dance' and has conducted Kathak exams at Dallas, Maryland and New Jersey. She has also worked as a judge to many classical and semi classical dance competitions. Kathak Lessons are available for kids ages 6 and up and the school also has an adult beginner's batch. The students of Nupoor Kathak School will get to participate occasionally in local cultural events to gain confidence and showcasing skills in front of the audience.
