Know About Finding A Good Dog Trainer
Owning a pet dog is one thing, while it is entirely a different and most beneficial thing to train a dog. A calm and well behaved dog is a pleasure to a family, so do take time to find a good dog trainer to train your dog. Finding a professional dog trainer may take a bit of research, but making the right choice will be worth the time.
Request the trainer of your dog to observe a class and ensure you observe certain things to make sure he is a good dog trainer. It is first very important to have a look at your dog during the training class and make sure that he/she is enjoying the class. Training classes are not meant to be stressful but fun.
It is also essential to note that the class encourages family members that observe the class to be enjoying themselves. Look for a trainer that conducts a class that encourages family members to attend and participate. This would also help the family members to follow on the training afterwards.
A good dog trainer is not one that conducts training for a large number of dogs together; it is best to limit the dogs during a training class to about 6 per trainer. This would enable him to give individualized attention that would benefit the dog greatly.
It is also essential to note that the location where the training is being conducted is secure, clean and sanitary. The floor should be clean of debris and supplies should be provided for clean-up. In addition it is essential to make sure the gates and doors should be latched and closed.
The kind of tools that are used in the training should be good; they should include leashes, flat collars, head halters, bite-sized treats, toys, harnesses and lots of praise. Tools like electronic collars, prong collars, choke collars and flexi-leads should be avoided at all cost.
The trainer should avoid physical punishment during the training; he should avoid hitting, kicking, jerking and popping the leash, stringing the dog up or hanging the dog.

A good trainer should ensure that your pet’s health is protected; he should insist on a health certificate or proof of vaccinations prior to the start of any class.
Finding a good dog trainer also means asking the trainer about the educational organizations he or she belongs to; organizations like APDT, IAABC, NADOI and the CCPDT strongly encourage or even require continuing education for their trainers. These trainers will keep up on their skills and knowledge.
If you cannot find a good trainer you can always depend on the internet to help you out. You’ll find various information on chewing, crate training, jumping, basic manners, besides tips on how to travel with your best friend, how to bathe your dog and step-by-step instructions for teaching tricks too.
Finally by training your dog, you won’t have to worry about what he destroyed while you were at work. You can have company over without having to strategize about what to do with your dog once they arrive. So take some time to train your dog who is your best friend.
