In her teenage years, Leena played the leading roles in Dance Ballets (dance plays based on Hindu religious scriptures), playing the leading roles in Ballets like Krishna Leela, Ram Leela, Luv Kush, Shakuntala, Vasavdatta, and Charomitra. She attained advanced Kathak training from Saswati Sen, a senior disciple of Pandit Birju Maharaj.
