The Kindergarten Readiness class introduces three year olds to the skills taught in Pre-K. Children will be exposed to calendar (including colors, letters, numbers, and shapes), storytime, crafts, and free exploration with plenty of time to practice sharing, taking turns, speaking and listening, and being part of a group. The Pre-K program is designed to prepare children for school socially and academically in a warm, nurturing environment. Small group work focuses on identification of colors, shapes, numbers, letters, letter sounds, sight words, journal writing, and handwriting. Students will receive periodic assessments to monitor progress and guide instruction to best meet each child's needs. This class will best meet the needs of students who are four and five years old. Carla has 15 years of professional experience as an elementary school teacher and private tutor.
