Stein Senior Center opened in 1974 and has been in continuous operation since then. From the very beginning, the seniors themselves were involved in the running of the center and through the commitment of our founding and current members, the Center continues to thrive. Today, Stein Senior Center is a valued resource for older adults in New York City. Funded in part by the NYC Department for the Aging, the Center provides a variety of services and programs designed to help senior citizens lead active, happy, and healthy lives in their homes and the community. Maintaining independence and avoiding the isolation that can occur in older years are important components of the quality of life for seniors. Likewise, being able to access needed services and assistance for health and other issues is essential. Stein Center provides a community focal point for support in these and other areas.
