What are the changes in Valentine's Day after a kid happens?
Our group of friends met for a dinner get-together and started analyzing how things change for Valentine Day after kids. True most relationships change after the kids arrive, with a relationship between a couple changing for the better after kids. Here are some of the changes that come in Valentine Day once the kids arrive: Flowers: As non parents we expect the expensive of flowers from our spouse or lover that should be delivered at you’re your office; deep down you wish everyone knows how loved you are. If you receive junky flowers, you’ll put them in your car thinking your guy better have class. As a parent you feel that someone has sent some flowers for you when you answer the delivery and marvel at how little things really matter. Then you read the card and realize that it is for your daughter who is really happy. Hopefully you will get some grocery store flowers this weekend or grab some yourself. Chocolates: As non parents you would love a box of chocolates topped with strawberries only, while after children you would not hesitate to beg, borrow or steal even your kid’s chocolates. Valentine’s Day Morning:You will want the day to be full of surprises as a non-parent with date night plans been made for months, and you have no idea where you’re going.
As a parent your morning of Valentine Day starts off with you rushing downstairs to make sure each child’s gift is on display before they arrive. Then you make a special heart-shaped-everything-breakfast and then decide what activity you would do as a family. If you choose ice skating you spend the afternoon making cookies and eating way too many of them, all with a loving smile on your face, when your spouse turns to you and asks you what you would like to do and you realized he had no dinner reservations.Cards:As a non-parents you are so full of love and would send Hallmark cards to your sister, parents and in-laws and also a 2 page note sweet sentiments to your spouse. As a parent you are covered with glue as you have hand-crafted 25 construction paper and doily hearts for each class. Your finger tips are covered in cuts, you can barely write a sentence. Perhaps a text will do.Night out: As non-parents you would love to boost of your love for each other and have the best dinner reservations on an unlimited budget and a hot new outfit.
As parents your budget would be limited and you may not go out but agree on take-out from a more exciting place and a rent new release at a rock bottom price. Over the warm sushi, you promise each other that this lack of fanfare doesn’t mean you have any less love. Then you both fall asleep mid-movie. Lingerie:As a non parent you would love lingerie that are bom-chicka-wah-wah, while as parents let’s call it a treat if you don’t get into your flannel pajamas before 7p.m. The post-baby belly does not need lace accoutrements. To conclude it doesn’t have to be for Valentine’s Day, guys. Go out, enjoy yourselves. Do it for yourselves – and the kids. This would increase your self confidence and self esteem and you would feel loved to give love also in return. Going out periodically on dates, not specifically on Valentine Day brings about a more happy family.
