Ways To Improve Your Child’s Intelligence

Many people feel that intelligence is inherited, but it is a myth. You can increase the intelligence of a child by proper caring by parents; doing some simple activities on a regular basis would help stimulate their brain and improve intelligence. This is best done in the early stages of childhood which the prime time for learning and development.



You could improve intelligence of your child by these activities:


 
1) You could first create a mentally stimulating environment for the child to increase his/her intelligence. This includes:



a) Playing physical, mental and educational games with your child regularly.  



b) Introducing your child to the library concept and encouraging him/ her to read story books, newspapers, and magazines.



c) Using expressive facial gestures while talking to children.



d) Taking your child to cultural events and also encouraging them to sing and take part in cultural activities.



e) Arranging to take them for excursions to various places.



f)  Making dinner time mentally stimulating.




2) Create a sense of humor and laughter in your child right from in the infant stage. Play with your infant by blabbering with him/her, make funny faces, tickle the baby’s toes and include music and rhythm in your baby’s life. Surprise your child being silly, make your baby giggle more and allow your child to fetch toys that have been dropped. As the children grow older introduce them to jokes; these activities improve a child’s concentration and motivate them to achieve new goals in life.


 

3) It is right to believe that an active body leads to an active mind; encouraging your child to play sports, practice yoga and exercise helps boost blood circulation, promote clear thinking, boost creativity and increase mental concentration. Physical activity will also promote motor skills, coordination, cognitive learning and increase self-esteem. They would enhance speed of thinking and complex reasoning, with controlled breathing exercises increasing the oxygen supply to the brain to enhance concentration, memory, and problem-solving abilities.


 

4) Teach your young child to play chess, checkers, cryptograms, word jumbles, picture puzzles, crossword puzzles, mathematical puzzles, and scrabble; these games stimulate your child’s mind, builds verbal skills, improve powers of perception, reading, and concentration. Engage your child in music to increase creativity and relax the mind.

5) Increase the vocabulary and mathematics of your child by a creative way to learn numbers and alphabets; each day of the week eat fruits and vegetables starting with an alphabet and encourage your child to count the number of stairs or the number of blocks he/she has stacked. Take your child to the library and encourage him/her to read and take advantage of story time at home and school. Discuss with your child about their friends, activity and favorites; increasing the child’s opportunities for verbal interaction would enhance the child’s memory, attention and build vocabulary.




6) Give you child a nourishing and nutritional diet that is rich in vitamins and minerals to enhance his/her mental capacities and cognitive learning; the child should be given a lot of wholesome grains, omega fatty acids, green vegetables, iron-fortified cereals, and citrus fruits that would impact the mental processing abilities and increase the IQ of the child.




Finally you could improve the intelligence of your child by providing the right type of stimulation with the mentioned activities at the right time.
