Toddler hair grooming tips
It is the joy of a toddler’s mother when he/she allows her to brush her hair to make a neat and cute hairstyle. Most toddlers do not stand in one place while their hair is brushed and it is difficult to detangle and brush one’s hair to loosen the dirt in it; any force on the part of parents only lead to shrieks and screams. However the use of the right hair products and techniques will not only help brush her hair in peace, but also help manage her adorable hairstyle.
Some valuable toddler hair grooming tips:
Eliminate hair tangles by not having them at all:
It is impossible to eliminate tangles altogether, but you can minimize them by keeping your toddler’s hair short or by putting them in ponytails or braids. You could also eliminate tangles by being gentle while shampooing the hair; just pat the shampoo and do not rub the hair till the shampoo is real frothy.
The right hair tools do the trick:
Make sure you use a comb with teeth spaced far apart and do not scratch. It would be best to use brushes with rounded and flat ends; avoid curved ones. Use brushes and combs with long, firm and widely spaced bristles for toddlers with long and thick hair.
Ensure that 2 toddlers do not share the same brushes or combs; they could spread nasty insects and bugs like hair lice. Ensure you also wash and clean the toddler’s brushes and combs from time to time.
Use a leave-in detangle in the hair to make the hair easier to comb and tame frizzes and fly-away. Also include the use of a little spritz; it simplifies removing food from hair when there’s no time for a shampoo and the toddler has it in her locks.
Hair care could be turned into a fun game:
You could create a salon of your bathroom by treating your little one as a client by addressing her respectfully as “Ma-am” and pampering her; she will allow you to brush her hair. You could highlight the fun further by making her treat her long haired doll as her customer.
Give her a chance to create her own hairstyle:
This is all it takes protestors to cool down; you and your toddler could take turns making her hairstyle. Ensure you take the last turn to help smoothening out the tangles. Allow her to do the styling of your hair when you and at home and not going out on an important outing.
Add glamour and glam to her tangle-free hair:
Give your toddler the choice of bows, barrettes, hair clips that she likes; plan out shopping for hair accessories with her and keep all the accessories in special satchel or drawers. Plan to buy accessories that are large enough and securely fasten to avoid choking hazards and their being pulled out.
