Recipes to teach your Nanny - Cooking Nanny Diaries
Food is an important part of life – an average individual consumes a total of 35,000 meals in a lifetime, and the most crucial meals are the ones that you intake during your growing years as a kid. Kids should have a nutritious diet, but sadly, our hectic lifestyle makes it next to impossible for parents to cook for their kids. Sweetened cereals and boxed/canned food might be a quick fix for the problem but are certainly not the healthiest of options!

Almost all of us hire a nanny to take care of our kids, and the smartest choice is to make sure that the Nanny you hire can also cook and cook healthy. Before you hire a Nanny, make sure that you test their cooking skills too. Your Nanny need not be an expert cook but should know their way around the kitchen to make sure they can provide your kid with the right nutrition. Here are a few simple recipes you can teach your Nanny.

Salads – Go Green!
Kids might not love their veggies, but a yummy salad with steamed meat and fresh veggies with some fat-free mayo and salts can get them interested. Some kids love the flavor of pepper, and some love spreads being infused into their Salads. The idea is to get the salad tasting just right without making it too rich.

Soups – The all-rounder
Soups are often taken for granted! In reality, soups are light but yet have all the nutrients and vitamins you will require for a balanced diet. Creamy soups are often preferred by kids while clear with crunchy goodness thrown in can do the trick too. Just make sure that your Nanny does not throw in a lot of heat in the soup since kids can react to a lot of pepper or chili. Try and deter packed soups as they have dehydrated veggies and not the real ones.

Sandwiches – Easy yet sumptuous
Sandwiches are the real deal – they are a whole meal and can be fixed in no time! If your Nanny is responsible for preparing lunch, Sandwiches with whole grain wheat bread and a boiled egg should do the trick. Try and avoid sweet toppings and spreads like jelly-o, peanut butter, and other treats. Reserve these for occasional treating and go for healthy alternatives with less sugar and more goodness.

Baked food – The occasional treat
Kids have a sweet tooth! And too much of healthy stuff with little treating makes them look elsewhere for sugary treats. It is better that your Nanny bakes them a pie or pulls out a few cookies from the pan rather than a box of sticky candy that makes visiting the dentist a ritual. Try to get a good cookbook for your Nanny. In this age of technology, even YouTube works just fine in teaching your Nanny to bake.
