Summer camp

Also widely known as sleepaway camps are programs held for children’s and teenagers organized by schools or by authorized private organizations or by parents themselves. Summer camps comprises of activities like hiking, canoeing, and setting campfires.

The entire camping happens in outdoors like remote, natural areas or near a water venue. Depending upon the location and the possibilities of outdoor activities, sports and activities like canoeing, archery, hiking, handcrafts, dramatics, camp and fire making are included. Sleeping arrangements in camps are in the form of wigwams, tents, or open dormitories.

Terminology:

In camps, the person who takes in charge or handles the entire camp is known as counsellors or cabin leaders and the set of small group campers are called "bunks", "huts", "cabins", or "units". Day camps are something where the campers go home by evening and return the next day. There are different kinds of reasons why people go for camping, some of them are

Educational camps:

Education camps are targeted mostly on students and teenagers to enhance their studies and knowledge in different fields. Some of the major educational camps where, students actively take part are:

Academic adventure camps:

In adventure camps, students are asked to indulge in adventurous activities like travelling into the wild, hiking, and mountain climbing under the supervision of a professional.

 

Science and nature camps:

In science and nature camps, students are supposed to live under the roof of Mother Nature and learn about how to survive in a forest by making huts, camps, creating fire etc., and thereby learning about the surroundings.

Tech camps:

Tech camps are conducted inside a campus, students learn about 3D game creation, web design, graphic design, robot building, and programming languages. They are held during summer vacations, depending upon the interest of the kid, the courses are taken. Apart from these there are art camps, travel camps and sports camps.

 

Art and performing arts camps:

Art, the breath of life, at the early stages of life when kids pick up an art form unknowingly or by something which triggers and pulls them towards it, they try to imitate and develop it by themselves and that’s where the duty of every caretaker begins to nourish them with proper guidance and coaching.

To support such kid with activities to enhance their creativity, art camps happen. What ever may it be dance, theatre, music or any art form. Summer camps are a way to bring out the talent in them.

For instance, few kids develop interests and develop the audacity to give a stage act as a performer, but when they face the real crowd some stumble with fear. Sports camp:

These sports camps comprises of individual sports or team sports, sports camps help find talents and later helping them with scholarship.
