Activities to keep toddlers engaged while babysitting
Toddlers are very active and need to be engaged with various activities to be kept stimulated and happy. They are bored with routine and both babysitters and parents need to keep them away from mischief and hurting themselves; keeping them busy and stimulated can be done with various activities.
Here are a few activities that can help keep toddlers engaged:
Bubble Painting:
This activity makes for a great outdoor summer activity; bubble painting is a fascinating craft activity for toddlers that produce different results each time!
The things that you need include a bowl or a tray that is big enough to fit your paper in, paint, wash up liquid, drinking straw, and paper.
First, mix paint and some wash up liquid in a tray, adding water till it becomes runny enough to blow bubbles. You can blow bubbles by using a drinking straw to blow into the paint.
Next, gently place the paper on top of the bubbles and remove the paper when the bubbles pop. Leave it to dry.
Now admire the modern masterpiece your toddler has made!
Bathtub Fishing:

You can give the fishing experience to a toddler in your own bath tub making him/her suggest, “Let’s go fishing” quite often.
First fill your bathtub with water and add some blue food coloring to the water. Then, stick magnets to some of your toddler’s toys which go well with the ocean theme.
Next, place towels around the floor and a plastic bowl on top of the towel for him/her to place the “fish” that were caught. Make the fishing pole out of a plastic golf club to which a yarn is tied at the end of which you can attach a magnet. While fishing, your toddler will understand the difference between magnetic things and non magnetic things that he/she cannot fish.
Your toddler will sure have a blast fishing for his/her magnets!
Tulip Potato Printing Craft:
This is a great craft for kids to make homemade Spring or Mother’s Day cards with potatoes cut into tulip shapes. Your toddler and you could have some real fun by cutting potatoes in different flower shapes as well.
All you need for this craft are potatoes, paint, a knife, paper, and a paintbrush. First cut the potato into half and then cut a tulip shape in it. Then pour some paint onto a plate and guide the toddler to dip the shaped potato in it and then put it on paper. Next help your toddler to paint green color straight lines as stems using the paint brush.
It’s real easy; finally add some leaves to the beautiful tulips and your kid would experience the joy of one’s own masterpiece!
Color & Clean - Car Wash Play For Toddlers:
This is a very interesting and informative activity for toddlers. With the car wash being fun; you could be creative and also help your toddler wash toy cars and trucks.
First, gather materials like window markers, some warm water, a soapy sponge and some plastic riding toys. Next, start coloring the toy cars; it is best to encourage imagination and creativity in your toddler. Don’t mind the dirt as your toddler’s toy cars get ready for a wash.
Next, dip your sponge in the water and let your toddler clean up all the color; you would sure feel good seeing your toddler enjoying doing the car wash.
