8 Ways To Make Your Child Well-Mannered

Just like every child needs to learn about religion and how to read and write, he/she also needs to learn how to be well mannered; this is best taught by parents at home at an early stage.

Ways to make your child well mannered:

1) Children learn to be well behaved by following the example of parents; teach your child to wait for his/her turn to speak and not interrupt when others are speaking. Make sure when you or the other person is done the child gets the full attention needed.

2) Our children need to be taught to say, “Thank you” whenever someone gives them something; this could be best taught by parents thanking their children for any small task or thing given by them. Also children need to be taught how to say, “Please”, this is best taught by parents when they say it when asking the children to do something. Parents are the best role model of children in this regard; a hug or kiss on accomplishment of the task will make the children say it at all times.

3) Children are best taught good manners when we are positive in instructing our children; instead of asking them not to do something, it would be better to ask them to do something. A child should be told to be patient and not that it is wrong to be impatient.

4) Being courteous is to be taught to children at all stages; teach your young child to accept a compliment by saying, “Thank You” courteously by setting an example yourself. In addition it would help to teach your older child to be courteous by holding the door open for others especially when entering a store.

Good manners

5) Parents would be instilling good manners in their children by demonstrating to them to respect people of all religions and colors; children need to be taught not to stare at them or make fun of them and to respect their different rituals and traditions.

6) We need to understand as a parent that it takes time for young children to pick up the etiquette of being well behaved; there is no use of being too strict or demanding, it is best to be patient.

7) Children need to be taught how to treat guests when they visit your home; guests are to be treated in a courteous and polite way. There is no other person but parents that can teach their children to treat guests in a proper way by example.

8) Lastly as I said before children follow the example set by parents; it is futile to yell or lose your temper. Be calm for this is the best way that you can get and maintain your child’s respect.
