Dogs also get bored like us; they start behaving badly with destruction around the house and yard, with some very unhappy family members. Most causes of boredom are inactivity or lack of anything exciting to do.

8 Ways to avoid boredom in dogs:

1. The first way is to enrich the dog’s playing environment; give your dog a lot of toys and things to play with. A puppy may love to have something he can bite at, but make sure he does not destroys your belongings like furniture, garden and lawn; praise him when he only plays with his toys.

2. Make some time to take your dog for a walk either in a park or the beach; it would be both a fun activity as well as an exercise for both of you. If you go to a park throw a ball and ask him to retrieve it; in a beach throw sticks in the water for him to retrieve.

3. When you are away at work or for some important errands it is quite natural for your dog to feel not only bored, but also restless being alone at home. You could put the TV on, so that he does not feel he is alone; putting on the dog channel or some channel like the Animal Planet or Discovery Channel would help.

4. I would train my dog to be occupied; it would also give him a chance to be close to me and trust me. Being close to him you could also teach him tricks and commands.

5. Keeping your pet dog occupied even when you are away is important; you could give the dog some chewy toy like a tennis ball or a newspaper; he could rip these toys apart. However this way ensures that the dog does not feel bored and rips up anything else that is important.

6. Eliminate boredom and build that special bond with your dog by allowing him to be with you when indoors also; you could accomplish this with allowing him to sit by you when you are doing some paper work or working on the computer or on your lap when you watch television. Keep the conversations going so that he knows you are not neglecting him.

7. I would love to take time out of my day to just play with my dog; I would go to the backyard and just throw his ball and ask him to fetch it. This game would not only be exciting for a pet dog, but would also help him get some exercise and burn calories.

8. Also take your dog to the grooming place; he is sure to love seeing and playing around with the other dogs.  Take her to the grooming place, so that she sees dogs and gets to play around.

Last, but most important remember to keep your dog entertained and engaged to avoid behavioral problems.
