Most children love having a bath, but some children would simply not stop crying having a bath and would stop only when you put the towel on them. Bath-time for children can be made fun-time only if we followed a few strategies that really work.

The 10 ways to make a child’s bath-time happy and enjoyable are:

1)    Most children love to play with water; what would be better than allowing them to splash with a bucket of water or turn the sprinkler on and allow them to play before they are actually given a bath.

2)    Which child would not like bubbles to play with while being given a bath; most young children like bubbles in their bath that would not only keep them entertained, but also remove the fear of a bath from their mind.

3)    It is best to ensure that a child cooperates when being bathed by allowing the child to play in an empty tub along with his/her favorite toys. This will make the child to associate with the bath-tub and bath as something enjoyable and exciting.

4)    . Most kids do not like the water of the bath water to be too warm or too cold; making sure that the temperature of the bath water is to the liking of the child before he/she is put in ensures the child’s cooperation when having a bath.

5)    It would be best to have a consistent time for bathing the child; it could be in the morning or at bedtime or just after play in the late evening. This will make the child ready to have a bath when the time comes and will get her/him used to the routine.

6)    Give your child a bath when he/she is happy; trying to bathe a child when he/she is cranky and in a bad mood would mean no cooperation being given by the child. Giving a bath when the child is happy, like when he/she wakes up in the morning ensures a relaxed and cooperative child.

7)    Toys to play while being bathed in the bath tub is enjoyable for most children; make sure you use age appropriate toys.  These toys would not only distract the child, but also help him/her to enjoy the water more.

8)    It would be great to make your child’s bath a family affair; this would make the child enjoy the bath all the more looking at everyone’s faces.

9)    Besides making your child’s bath a family affair, it would be great fun if some other young children also took a bath with him. He/she would have someone to play with and the child would feel more comfortable and secure.

10) 'Row Row Row Your Boat'.., songs like these could be sung and dramatized in the water when your child has a bath; this would help the child to enjoy the bath all the more.

I am sure you too would be relaxed after your child’s bath by following these strategies. Are you?
