1) Children can turn for life lessons and other advice to their grandparents who are wise having gone through similar experiences in life. Children develop the confident to face these problems as their grandparents did and come out successful.  

2) Grandparents who have lived through periods like the Great Depression or World War II could tell grandchildren all about what it was living through those times; this would be best absorbed by children that hate history. This would also make children realize their childhood is much different than that of their grandparents.

4) Grandparents can help their grandchildren revive the art of letter writing with encouraging them to set up pen pal time, to send postcards, letters or souvenirs from your latest excursion to others. This would not only instill the art of letter writing in children, but would help build bonds between family and friends.


5) Children learn better about the family and extended family from their grandparents than the old black and white pictures; they could also tell their grandchildren about the family tree of siblings, parents, uncles and aunts and tell them funny stories of them.

7) Children cultivate the art of listening from grandparents; listening to stories told by grandparents teaches children how to listen and understand what others tell them. This makes them start listening attentively to their teachers in school. 


8) Grandparents’ times were not days of video games and smart phones; they played board games like snakes and ladders, carom and Ludo.  Children could cultivate a liking for these games when they play them a few times; they may enjoy playing these simple games that are healthy with friends. 


9) Grandparents learnt different skills like sewing, gardening, baking, farming or woodworking when they were young; grandchildren can learn these skills as well as other useful things about life from them.


10) Grandparents render lessons to not get upset over little things of life; it would benefit taking advantage of grandparents experience to take a broader view of things.
