10 Super Foods To Boost Your Child’s Immunity

We would sure love to minimize out visits to the pediatrician and want to build up a strong immunity in our children; we could bring up healthy children by giving them 10 super foods. It is however to be noted that no single food alone helps by itself; kids should be given a combination of them.  


Boost your child’s immunity with these 10 super foods:



1) Mushrooms: Recognized as one of the potent weapons against flu, colds and other infections; they are also well known for their antitumor, antiviral, and antibacterial effects. Mushrooms can be given regularly in the form of sandwiches, with mushrooms like shitake best served sliced and mixed with dishes to add flavor to them. 



2) Garlic: Well recognized for its pungent flavor that children may want to avoid as it creates bad breath, garlic also has antiviral and antibacterial properties. Recognized as a taste enhancer, garlic stimulates the production of white blood cells and is an excellent antioxidant. It would be relished by children added in bits to chicken noodle soup or a salad. 



3) Nuts: Kids would gain on a whole lot of proteins, minerals and vitamins and antioxidants such as omega fatty acids, zinc and Vitamin E by having nuts. They could be served by slathering some all-natural pure nut butter on a slice of whole wheat bread or celery. Ensure you grind the nuts to prevent choking hazard in young children.

5) Brightly colored vegetables: Feed your children antioxidants rich colored vegetables especially carotenoids that are present in bright orange, green and yellow vegetables like capsicum, tomatoes, cucumber, and lettuce leaves. Serving our kids vegetables in yummy vegetable soup and delicious vegetable lasagna would help build up their immunity.



6) Sweet Potato: Creating a healthy skin that is the first line of defense against viruses and bacteria is possible by giving children sweet potato in various forms; it contains beta-carotene that is converted by the human body into vitamin A that is essential for a healthy skin.



7) Fish and flaxseeds: Giving our kids fatty fish like salmon, tuna and mackerel and vegetarian source flaxseeds would help them get Omega 3 fatty acids as well as other healthy fats that increase the activity levels of white blood cells and enhance the immunity of the body.

8) Poultry and lean meats: Giving our kids chicken soup helps; lean meat and poultry contain rich sources of zinc that help in the production of T-cells and white blood cells. 



9) Yogurt or curd: This super food not only helps strengthen the intestinal tract in kids against gastro-intestinal illnesses, but also builds up a resistance to immune-related diseases like cancer and infection. 



10) Oats and barley: They are rich in beta-glucan, a sort of fiber that contains antimicrobial and antioxidant properties; hence they should be included in a kid’s diet.
